Munoz y Cuesta is a Spanish artist of the realist school who often painted portraits. Munoz was also known to paint historical scenes and military subjects such as generals and soldiers. The artist was prolific and his style was often likened to his famous Spanish predecessors, Francisco Goya and Diego Velasquez.

Munoz y Cuesta painted in a realist style and often implemented rough brushstrokes and a dark, atmospheric palette. Representations of military figures and important political subject are typical of Munoz’s work. He produced a large body of work and is acknowledged by the fine art community as a significant professional artist. Munoz’s work has been exhibited throughout the world.
